I had the same issue with my PS2 Slim. I found that it was an issue with the AV cables. I replaced the cable, and the humming went away. I hope this helps.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.When I connected it to my HDMI port #2 the picture was very clear. Of course it all depends on how old the movie you are watching. I have DVD's of some old black and white movies and they were much better to watch after I installed the RCA to HDMI converter. The newer DVD's that have been digitized have excellent clarity compared to the previous method of using the 3 red, green and yellow connection. I also had a humming noise. But I realized I did not have the red, green and yellow wires connected correctly and I am not color blind. Just in my haste to connect, I screwed up.
