You would have to place the speaker on the shelf before installing the top glass and probably try to hook up most of the wires as it’ll be difficult to work in the limited space when the glass top is permanently in place. The shelf height is 7” but the front of the cabinet has a bar that is 1.5” (l) x .75” (d) which runs the length of the cabinet (54”). So conceivably the 6.5” speaker can fit. Remember if you need to repair or replace, removal of the glass top would be necessary.
