You likely need to load the drivers for the product to your Macbook. I ran into the same issue and once I loaded the driver, it worked fine.

I found that if I insert the memory card into the Insignia first, and THEN insert it into my 11" MacBook Air, it worked perfectly every time. Inserting the Insignia first was hit and miss.

Your laptop probably does not have the drivers for it. Go to insignias website to down load the drivers

Mine won't read certain cards' I find it beneficial to have three diferent readers, one of the three usually works.

I'm not a computer geek, but we bought this reader to use with our MacBook Air and it has worked for us. When we plug just the reader in without an SD card, there is no indication on the computer that anything is plugged in. However, when we plug an SD card into the reader the SD card shows up in iPhoto and we're able to download pictures from it. Hope this helps.

I would try a new reader first. I'm using one with a MacBook, and have had no issues with it. The reader might be faulty.

It's probably a formatting issue. You may need a formatting program that allows Mac to read pc.. hope that helps

I'll ask the obvious question. Is it plugged in correctly? USB can only plug in 1 way. Don't try to force it. If it doesn't plug in easily, then reverse it. You don't want to damage the port. Have you tried plugging it into another computer, either PC or Mac? Does it work when you plug it into another computer, either PC or Mac?

This reader will only show as plugged in if there is a working memory card installed in it. If this is the case and it still does not show up, unfortunately it may be the laptop. Apple software is occasionally picky about the types of devices you plug in.

You may want to put the card reader into something else to see if it's detected at all...if it is then it's the driver on the Mac. You may see if there are any updates available also.
