No, it doesn't have its own memory. It is only for transferring data, files, photos, etc from a memory card to a device that has USB input.

I have no idea but I was able to view my photos, make changes to them on an XP computer, and save the changes back to the memory card. I don't know if this answers your question.

It is just an adapter. The USB device has no memory of its own.

The USB merely is a tool to use in transferring the data. It has no memory (RAM/ROM).

The card reader does not have any storage capacity on its own, this simply acts as the middle man to allow your computer to read the cards.
