Have you tried making sure the adapter is being detected by your device? Sometimes new appliances need to be manually added in order for it to work. I have no experience with the Chromebook series but it doesn’t hurt to check your WiFi settings to confirm that a wired connection has been established. If that doesn’t work it might not be a bad idea to test out another driver if there isn’t any change.
