QuestionCan I use this to hard wire my smart tv to the internet?My daughter is having trouble with her university's wireless access on her smart TV. Her friend was able to wire an Ethernet cable to her TV and it works much better. My daughter's smart TV doesn't have an Ethernet port, but it does have a usb port. We were hoping this adapter would allow her to get hardwired network access for improved performance.

- Answer Yes, as long as the port you are seeing on the TV is actually a usb port ,and not the system diagnostics port, it should wrk just fine

- Answer I installed this on a windows 7 machine. I expected the drivers to just be loaded. Then realized that I was not connected to the internet and the operating system did not have the driver. After using the included CD it started working. Conclusion, Drivers are necessary. The box with the CD says drivers for a PC (windows) or a MAC are included.

- Answer There are two lights, one for link, the other for data. The light blinks to show that data packets are moving. The one lit all the time is telling you that you have a valid physical link to the network

- Answer It will work on a laptop with a slow port. I don't think you would need to disable the old port, but you won't want to use both ports at the same time.

- Answer Hi Pat, This adapter should work with a Dell Chromebook as long as you have a working USB Port. The drivers can be downloaded from Insignia's Support Website. Do a search for insignia products support and you should find their website, then do a search for USB to Ethernet.

- Answer Yes, it can provide you with network connectivity when plugged into a USB hub. With some laptop models you may experience difficulties depending whether the USB hub is powered or not powered. If it does not work with your particular laptop USB port or the USB hub, and you require a more permanent solution, BestBuy does sell a Kensington USB docking station that has a built in Ethernet port - Kensington - USB 3.0 Docking Station - black Model:K33991WW SKU:5119500.
