Yes, it works! I have the same exact setup at home, it allows me to access my USB hard drives with all network devices at home. So cool!

If it is just a hard drive then it will likely need a host PC or have integrated host hardware that will identify it to the network, allow security/management and sharing. Seagate and WD have such products which are referred to as a personal cloud.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.It needs to be connected to the router but it will be slow because it is a bottleneck on the network, since it is USB, It runs slower than the network and the router can only 'talk' at the speed of the adapter
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.usb is not the same as a network. if your usb drive is plugged into a NAS that is on the (ethernet) network it will work. if you have a usb hub your usb drive will work on that just fine.
