If your desktop doesn’t have a USB-C type plug then you would need to use a USB-A to USB-C adaptor. Just make sure to use a USB 3.0 or higher plug on your desktop for best performance. Honestly, unless you have another device, such as a laptop, that has USB-C ports then you would probably just be better off buying an SD cart reader with a USB-A (most common) type plug. Good luck!
