The cable will likely allow laptop to laptop transfer, but I cannot say this with certain knowledge. I use the cable to link my iMac to a Samsung TV so I can play jpgs on the TV. While it works for my intended purpose, (1) it is awkward to control the images transmitted to the TV and, (2) the cable connection causes the icons on my computer to shrink to about 1/4 of their normal size, making their control equally difficult.

Unfortunately this device will not allow you to connect your computer's display to another computer's display. It is intended to connect to a another monitor or TV to your computer.
