Go with the Kenwood concert series amp only sold at Best Buy. They are Kenwood Excelon amps, and they really blow the completion away in the same class of amplifiers. The JBL club amplifiers, alpine amplifiers, and pioneer amplifiers are also great amplifiers, but for the money and performance I always recommend the Kenwood amplifiers because they offer a lot more for the money, sound excellent (no noise), and are very dependable. I’ve even taken apart amps I own, compared the internals of the amplifier to my other amps, and I see much better quality components used in the Kenwood amps compared to some very reputable brands such as Pioneer. Don’t get 8 AWG as recommended in the previous answer, as that would leave absolutely no room for upgrades in the future in case you add a 4 channel amplifier in the future. I wouldn’t recommend anything smaller than 4 AWG COPPER WIRE. I personally run 1/0 AWG copper wire, as it only costs a few more $$$, and future proofs your ride for any upgrades without stressing your electrical system. I have to stress copper, because you will not get the performance you are looking for out of Copper Clad Aluminum wire. Get a ported enclosure and you will get much batter bass output when comparing to a sealed enclosure. Only time I would recommend a sealed enclosure is if you are constrained with space, or have multiple subwoofers running in a sealed enclosure as it takes much more power to get that thump you may be looking for.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would recommend you get a Kicker CXA600.1 amplifier to run two of these subs. Wire each sub in parallel to get a final impedance of 2 ohms. The Kicker CXA600.1 amplifier will give each subwoofer just over 300 watts RMS which matches JBL's wattage requirements very well. You will also need an enclosure for the subs and an amp kit for installation. I would recommend a 4 gauge amp kit from Kicker at best buy or you could get 8 gauge. If you need rca cables make sure the amp kit has them and if you do not (if you have a stock head unit in your ford focus) then use the line level inputs on the Kicker amp. As far as am enclosure for two of these subwoofers you could buy a Metra - 12" Dual Sealed Subwoofer Enclosure - Charcoal enclosure from best buy. The specs for the enclosure match the subwoofers quite well too. And, if you only wanted to install one of these subwoofers then get the Kicker CXA300.1 amp, an 8 gauge amp kit, and a Metra 12'' Single Sealed Subwoofer Enclosure. That's what you need to install this item in your Ford Focus.
