I purchased two of these and have only installed one. As other reviews have stated, it’s hard to pass up such a good deal when these are on sale. That being said, that was all I was expecting when purchasing these, nothing more. But to my surprise, I’m extremely impressed by the performance from these 250 watts RMS subwoofers. I had an Alpine 12” Type R in one of my automobiles, and a JL 13W7 in another car I own. Both those subs are fed 1000 watts RMS and the JBL sub pushing 250 watts can actually keep up with the bass when comparing those two. I’m sure you may be thinking what an extreme comparison, but I can assure you for the low wattage requirement for these subs, you can easily achieve car rattling bass from these subwoofers. Make sure you have the proper enclosure though. I put the JBL subwoofer in a ported box which has a volume of ~ 1.9-2.0 cubic feet, and they sound great!!! I have not put these in a sealed enclosure, so I couldn’t say how they sound in those. I recommend a ported enclosure to get maximum output since you’ll be running a lower wattage. I also set my low pass crossover to 100 Hz, which seems to be a sweet point for these subs to transition from your lows, to your mid and high frequencies. I have this subwoofer (yes only one) running off a Kenwood Excelon X501-1, which seems to be the exact Kenwood amplifier Best Buy sells as the Kenwood KAC-501, but with a silver color finish. I packed up my bigger amp to run these, because the Kenwood was enough to run these without having to do any major electrical upgrades to my automobile( high output alternator mainly). I had to do major costly upgrades to run the JL and Alpime subwoofers properly, which wasn’t the case with these subwoofers. I think that should be a major deciding factor when buying any car audio equipment, as I learnt the hard way by dumping loads of money into car electrical upgrades. This is a true gem of a purchase if you give it enough power and the correct enclosure. I did not purchase an enclosure from Best Buy though, because they did not have what I was looking for. I added some pics of my other Subwoofers and amplifiers, to prove that this is a genuine review, as I see a lot of claims online, but no picture proof.

This is an amazing driver when you catch it on sale which BB tends to run once every quarter, I built an array of near field subs with this driver. There is a huge peak at 60Hz and drops pretty quickly from there. If you are going to use it like me for NF bass array, you will need to DSP the heck out of these. Regardless, this is an amazing driver for the money, when you are running multiples of these. I am at 16 right now :)

Great so far. Like many others, I got two of these at discount and didn't expect too much. Knowing my van is basically baseless from the factory I figured anything was better than my current position. Man these things have blown me away with their performance. I only installed one, in my van being powered by a MTX Thunder 500.1. It sounds great. I usually keep the bass turned down on my head unit otherwise this sub is rattling everything. Like I said, more than capable. I built a 1.7 cu.ft. sealed box, as I found that as the recommended box from JBL for this speaker. I extremely happy with my purchase!

I bought 3 of these bad boys 2 years ago and they’ve held their own if you were planning on spending 400 dollars on a subwoofer and seen these I’d say buy a more expensive subwoofer but I got all 3 for $90 brand new and for the money they’ve paid for themselves if your thinking about getting a cheap subwoofer then I would totally recommend these

Bought two of these when Best Buy had them on sale for 30 bucks a piece and all I have to say is wow. Have been using them for about 4-5 months now and they finally are fully broke in and they pound. Got them in a sealed box in my two door tahoe and they make the block shake. Paired them with some new JBL coaxial door speakers and a JBL ms-a5001 mono amp, and Pioneer stereo they are definite head turners. Used to have two 12” kicker comp CVRs with a kicker KX8001 800watt mono amp and these JBL subs blow them out the water. As surprising as that sounds. Pair these with a good quality JBL mono amp and you will not be disappointed such as the one I have them paired with or also the JBL GTX500 or JBL club-5501. Don’t underestimate these subs. I definitely did and they have 100% proved me wrong.

I bought this sub on sale for $30. This was perfect for the system I installed in my fiancé’s vehicle. Very great deal for the price. Surprised at how well the sub responds and is able to provide such strong sound. I really believe the sub puts out every bit of it’s rated 90 db. Definitely would buy again.

The legendary gx1200 is by far the best bang for your buck if you want to build a Hovereze, Hoverback, Boss or similar Tactile Response platform. It will destroy crowsons at way less.

    Good Budget Subwoofer

Well, First off this is exact same as the cx1200 jbl confirmed that through a email only change is dust cap appearance. Its not 300 watts rms it is 250 (which is ok) but best buy lied and there shipping was horrible. I bought 3 for black Friday sale like I did last year and has same shipping issues ( 8 days after purchase). Poor communication and took for ever. Im giving this a 4 star cause best buy needs to learn how advertise properly and learn how to ship correctly. Subs are great would suggest them to any one looking to buy them but don't buy them the normal 129 price they are not worth that much period. Even though they do have a 13.5 xmax for a 250 watts is pretty good. Subs great best buy not so much. Id recommend a sealed box 1.00 to 1.10 cuft or even a bandpass box they sounds great in.

I purchased two of these for my vehicle a couple of months ago. They are still going strong with the amount of abuse I have put them through. These may not hit the strongest compared to other subwoofers that are in the $150 plus range, but they are pretty darn close. They punch very well with a good amplifier and a good box, install is pretty easy if you know your way around a car. These are strong enough to vibrate your whole car, specially if they are in pairs. I got them on sale and I would highly recommend picking these up if you do not want to spend too much money on a good sound system.

Got these for Christmas and installed on 12/22/2019 with Rockford Fosgate 1,100 watt amp. (Can’t push too hard or amp will blow) I have had them for a week and absolutely love them! Deep sound with vented box, and my low wattage amp kicks them HARD! Most notes hurt honestly. I am not even powering them that much (900 Watts). They are a little bigger than my old subs and had to drill new holes in box. No big deal (look at photos)

JBL makes great products and this speaker is no exception. Was purchased as a deal of the day so the price was right. It was described in the listing as a “shallow” depth speaker but was a little deeper than I was expecting. I should have looked at the specs so that’s my fault. Not as much excursion as I was expecting either but it’s brand new and I’m hoping it loosens up a bit after a good break in.
