Yes, when you turn the vehicle when it comes on by itself and start recording, and when you turn a vehicle off it shuts down

The camera alone doesn't come on automatically. It has its own power button to turn it on/off. If you want to add the hard kit wiring which is ran to the vehicles battery then this would power it on/off based off the vehicle being on/off. The hard kit wiring is the CA-DR1030. You can consult with the installer on this wiring setup.
