Q: QuestionDoes it record how far around the front car. Since I don’t see front and rear recording
Asked by hkh.
- A:Answer I don't understand what you're asking, or if it's even a question. I can tell you that after just a week of having this camera I witnessed a wreck at night. The video transferred easily to my phone for highway patrol to view, and it was a very clear picture (again, at night). Below the video it displays the time, date, and location (via latitude and longitude) of the incident. The picture is about 170 degrees in front of you. Meaning, it will record basically everything you can see through your windshield. It does not, however, record behind you.

Q: QuestionDoes it need to be plugged in for power or does it come with an internal rechargeable battery?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer It does need to be plugged in to power. No internal battery, which I believe is to help reduce heat. There is a mini-USB port at the top of the device, so if you keep an extra cable in your vehicle, you can pull it off the mount and plug it in with the cable to view it while you hold it.

Q: QuestionI installed this camera in my car and went a long trip turned on, but it seems that only stays on for 5 minutes, is this the ay it supposed to work?
Asked by FRANK.
- A:Answer If you have the screen set to turn off after 5 minutes it will go black. There is a setting to set the screens “on” time so the video does not distract you while driving. I have mine set for 2 minutes then the screen blacks out but the camera is still in and recording.

Q: QuestionDose it have to be always plugged in all the time? Or it has a chargeable battery inside?
Asked by Med.
- A:Answer It has a battery in it but the battery has a pretty short run time and is primarily meant for use if someone hits your vehicle while it is parked to record the event. For normal recording, it needs to be plugged in.

Q: QuestionCan I connect the kenwood kca- r200 to it?
Asked by Blessed.
- A:Answer i recently purchased the kenwood drv a30 and the r200, what i found out upon inspection is that they are not compatible. The r200 is compatible with the kenwood drv a601 because it has a CAM IN port at the top of the caamera. The a301 does not have CAM IN port. Unfortunately the sales rep told me they were compatible.....I will be returning the rear camera.

Q: Questiondoes installation void my new cars warranty in any way?
Asked by Rakkasan1.
- A:Answer It should NOT void your warranty unless it was found to be the cause of an issue that otherwise would've been covered under the warranty. With that being said it also states that any aftermarket modifications that are made will indeed void the warranty if they are the problem, I'll use this as an example. If you have a warranty and you go and have aftermarket exhaust put on the dealership will have to have unequivocal proof that shows the installed exhaust was the problem, then and only then will your warranty or a portion of it will be voided. If they cannot find any evidence that the installed exhaust was the problem then your warranty is still valid and the dealership is obligated to honor it until it runs out. This is covered by the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act which was established in 1975 which ensured that sellers of consumer products clearly state the coverage of warranties. So your best bet would to not hardwire to your car and just use the car plug that way you'll have piece of mind and if something does happen the dealership can't try and blame it on a hardwire issue, because they're known for trying to blame owner for things they've had nothing to do with. This is how I have my dash cam set up right now for the same reason, glad I did to, the motor in my window went and they tried blaming my dash cam until I told them it's not hardwired and they should find the real problem.

Q: QuestionWhy are most videos protected? How do I turn off protection mode. I've turned off parking mode and lowered G sensor to low. It will still automatically protect most videos.
Asked by Jenjohn.
- A:Answer Anytime the vehicle hits a bump the video will be protected. There is a way to turn that off but you need to read the directions. We have not bought a bigger SD Card because it does continually loop the card. Every other week we delete what is on the card including the protected videos. You just need a computer or laptop with an SD Card slot.

Q: QuestionDoes this camera delete old files automatically when the sd memory card gets full ?
Asked by Rg.
- A:Answer My unit also asks for the chip to be formatted when full. It does overwrite but keeps "chirping" until the chip is reformatted. I've shut off the "sound" but it continues to chirp. I've also set the unit to "no protect" the files but it continues to protect them. Seems like a flaw in the software design. (the continual chirp drives me crazy)

Q: Questioncan I download to computer to set photo from snapfish?
Asked by Don.
- A:Answer You are supposed to be able to download to a computer. I can't answer your question directly because I haven't done so with mine, but I did witness a wreck the first week I had the camera and was able to easily transfer the video to my phone (you have to have the Kenwood App) while on the side of the interstate. The highway patrol were able to view it on my phone for evidence. As far as the computer goes, I know before I purchased it I saw a demo video that showed someone viewing the videos on their PC. Hope this helps.

Q: QuestionDoes it turn around, so you can record your self?

Q: QuestionDoes this have a voltage meter? Like will it drain the battery if left on while the car is parked?
Asked by Jimmy.
- A:Answer No, this does not have a voltage cutoff. There are hardwire kits that can be bought that include a cut off for low battery. You could also plug the cam into a accessory only plug in the vehicle rather than a full time plug. To test your cigarette outlet, see if it works with the Key on only or if it provides power with the key off. In many vehicles the cover for the cigarette lighter plug will display a Key or Battery. If it displays a Key, that means it only has power when the ignition is in the Accessory or Run setting and not when off.
