Anytime the vehicle hits a bump the video will be protected. There is a way to turn that off but you need to read the directions. We have not bought a bigger SD Card because it does continually loop the card. Every other week we delete what is on the card including the protected videos. You just need a computer or laptop with an SD Card slot.

But this dashcam will protect videos by default and one has to manually unprotect them - which is totally stupid and missed the point of a dashcam. I wouldn't buy it again
