“Venting downdraft range through the floor (concrete slab). Already saw cut slab to closest exterior wall but can’t exit wall have to run up wall through roof. Why does install guide not cover concrete slab? And metal ducting will rust in the ground. :(”

I can only offer what I did. My down draft is next to a kitchen cabinet which is next to an exterior wall. So I ran my vent pipe through the cabinet to the wall. I then covered the line with white cabinet board. I would suggest you put chicken wire crumbled up in the vent on the outside. I had a problem with rodents crawling in a d getting caught in the vent motor . That worked well for me.
