• A:Answer Be thankful you don't need to install the downdraft since you have a hood. We do not have a hood and spent $3,800 for our downdraft because we have an island and absolutely NO ONE WILL DO THE INSTALL FOR THE VENTING. Best Buy is doing nothing about this and had no problem selling us an expensive range with no one to help us. They ignore our phone calls don't return our calls and this is at the store level. I always loved Best Buy but they have proven themselves to not be an honest retailer. You can only prove how good you are when there is a problem and Best Buy has failed miserably.

• A:Answer What you need to know about this range is that it is a special installation. It took FIVE tries (scheduling crews, who would show up and say they couldn't do the job) and many, many calls and visits to stores to get this product installed. I purchased installation online when I placed the order. But when the delivery people brought the range, they said they could not install. So if you order this range, you should do it IN STORE, and make sure you are dealing with a knowledgeable person who knows this requires special installation. The standard BestBuy / Geek Squad is not staffed to do these installs. This range replaced an older Jena-Air downdraft at a home that is now a rental property, and my poor tenants were without a range for over a MONTH. In the end, Best Buy gave additional discounts and eventually got it solved, but it was a headache. Again -- go into the store and be sure you're dealing with a product specialist who KNOWS this product and its requirements.

Q: QuestionJust purchased this unit to replace our old JennAir. To our surprise, it appears that the downdraft ventilation location that the JennAir required is NOT compatible with this new unit. We are inches off. Anyone have suggestions on how you approached this?

• A:Answer It is probably too late for you but may help others. The old Jenn Air had the blower motor assembly sitting vertically. The new models (both Jenn Air and Kitchenaid) have the the blower motors laying horizontally. You get a larger oven space but a major headache on install. Out installer had to locate the ductwork on the left front corner of the unit. Be aware that the new units are longer than the old ones and will stick out from the counter unless you have the room to lengthen the hole by about 3" inches.

Q: QuestionWe bought the jennair downdraft stove 7 years ago. Only one burner can be turned to simmer. We hate it....but we need a downdraft gas stove. We like the GE Cafe unit because all burners simmer well. Do all four burners simmer well?

• A:Answer Hi there, we've had this range for about 6 months and the oven works great, but the top burners all burn pretty hot so there isn't really a "simmer" setting which can be frustrating. I find I have to turn off the burner put on a lid and then turn it back on to heat something up before serving.

• A:Answer Yes, but make sure the installers are from the geek squad, I️ bought the refrigerator, dishwasher, and stove . The dishwasher had to be reinstalled 4 times, the finally sent out the geek squad, good luck, it’s a great stove
