Go to Lenovo's website and download the service manual. I've upgraded the memory and replaced the hard disk with an SSD myself. I didn't see anything in the service manual about voiding the warranty or any security thing in reference to the memory. One of the hard disk screws has a security sticker which I had to break to install my new SSD, thus voiding the warranty. For a $300 laptop, I'm not going to worry about the warranty. (I planned on upgrading the laptop when I bought it so I didn't bother with any if the extended warrantys.)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The maximum RAM for this system is 16GB. A certified technician must do the work so as to not void the warranty. Geek Squad technicians at Best Buy should be able to do this work.
