“Hi. I have it plugged in and running but it isn't as loud as I thought. Even at Max volume my speakers in the TV are louder than this. Checked settings and they are all set to optical input. Have a new 4k Samsung TV. Tried both remotes too.”

Make sure nightmode is off! This happened to me nightmode completely lowered the sound and the bass!

The Bluetooth connection is the best for volume however, when using the Bluetooth connection I notice that the sound and video was not together, in other words mouth movements of video and movies were a little faster than the sound. All and all it’s still not very good with the bass tone or volume
