The depth of the unit is 30-3/8" and it is recommended to ensure sufficient clearance for water inlet
hoses, drain hose and airflow, allow minimum clearances of at least 1'' (2.5 cm) at the sides and
4'' (10 cm) behind the appliance. ^Daphane

At 30 3/8 inches deep + room for hoses and cables, I'd say this machine is too deep for your closet. The electric dryer version can be changed from center vent to either side, the gas changed from center only to the left, but the water and drain hoses connect to the back of the machine which would make it deeper than your closet.

If you were to remove the closet door, since the doors of the machine protrude a bit more than the cabinet (included in the 30 3/8) so would protrude a bit, but might be acceptable--it's a very nice looking machine.
