This washer/dryer is ventless. warm dry air is blown into the drum where it picks up moisture from the wet clothes. Now the warm moist air is pushed to a condenser where the air is cooled and therefore loses moisture. The water goes into the sump where it's pumped into the drain. The now cool dry air goes back to be heated again and pushed back into the drum. I assume that the heat transfer from the condenser is used to reheat the air to keep energy cost down. It's a closed loop system. I will tell you that while the unit has settings for normal (auto), turbo (a bit quicker auto), and timed (the user can set how long) the unit does not have a temperature control for drying. If you need low temperature for drying I suggest that you just wash without using the dryer function and move the load to a dryer with temp control or hang dry. I like the washer/dryer because it's perfect for starting a load right before going to bed and waking up in the morning with the clothes washed and dry. You don't even tell it how big of a load you have. It determines that itself. Also being an He washer it doesn't take as much detergent, fabric softener, or bleach as a standard washer. I hope this helps with your questions
