I like it, but it’s not for everyone
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Got this to save on space in the laundry room (it’s a small house). I like it, but it’s not for everyone. It does take a long time to dry and the clothes are more wrinkled than in the normal dryer, but this doesn’t bother me that much because I like to dry the clothes outside. My process is to dry for 7 minutes to de-wrinkle and then put it on the rack or line outside to finish drying in the sun. I read reviews before buying this all-in-one combo, so I was aware of the drying “problem”. If you like to dry your clothes all the way, this might not be a good choice for you. I dried a load all the way once as an experiment and it took over two hours, maybe more. And the loads need to be light for drying, i.e. you might need to separate your load into two, which would then defeat the purpose. I thought this didn’t make sense as far as the design is concerned. Why design something big enough for big wash loads which you cannot dry? I’ve had this washer/drier for over a year now and it’s been working well. I do wipe the rubber ring after each load as recommended and hadn’t had problems with clogging (where you have to drain it) as others reported. I also haven’t had any problems with smaller items being stuck in the ring. I am not entirely happy with the programming. Some of it just doesn’t make sense. For example, I just loaded my bedding to wash. If you choose “bedding”, it automatically gives you WARM and MEDIUM SPIN, but you cannot add DRYING to it!! So I have to choose NORMAL where I can add drying. DRYING function doesn’t have enough choices for me. You can set it to 30 min to 7.5 hours, BUT you cannot set it to 7 minutes, which is what I need, so a lot of times I just don’t add drying to the cycle and then dry after the wash it done, I go and just start drying as a separate cycle and then set my watch for 7 minutes and stop drying when my watch beeps. The good thing about it being high tech is that I loaded the LG app on my phone and my watch tells me when the wash is done so that I can go and start my 7 minutes of drying right away. Another little thing that’s a bit annoying to me (but def not a deal breaker) is that you have to wait for like a minute for the machine to unlock the door after you press the stop button when you are drying. So again, I have to leave and come back. Little things, but inconvenient. The bottom line is that I am still glad we got it. Now I have more space in the laundry room for storage and I must say it looks great after having my 20 year old washer in there! Oh, and by the way, it took 6 months (!!!) for us to get it! I thought Best Buy was absolutely terrible about the logistics. The first spot was in August and I took a day off to make sure I was at home and they called me at 5 PM to tell me that they didn’t have it!! Then they rescheduled for September and this time I called a week before to make sure they have it and they didn’t have it! This continued tinged until December, when I called me and said that they were going to deliver on New Years Eve!! I thought “seriously? We have to deal with this in New Year’s Eve?”, but I thought we’d better take it because who knows when they would deliver next, so they ended up delivering like at 11pm!! I kind of felt bad for those young guys. Their truck broke down, so they delivered later than the scheduled 9pm, which I also thought was really late for a delivery, especially on New Year’s Eve!! At least I got it, so was happy to have it on that day!!

Really do love it!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very happy with this washer/dryer! I love the big drum, it holds a regular full load of clothes, the only cons I have are that it takes a very long time to do a load of laundry, average between 3-4 hours for one load, but you can set it and go do whatever you need to do and come back to it. I do love the remote start, I use this feature quite a bit. It does produce a lot of lint because it is ventless, but that is not that big of a deal. You just need to wipe around the rubber seal on the door to remove it after each load. Overall, I am very pleased with it. It does clean your clothes very well. Very easy to use.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a little scare that the washing and drying process was too long and that I have to pay more in the electricity bill. A medium size load including 2 towels took the same time if it would be a combo. It doesn't stop once it starts the washing cicle it continues to dry. Don't worry if you see in the screen timer 7 hours and xx minutes. When the cloth starts the drying cicle indicates the real time it will take to dry. Fantastic buy and cheaper than a combo. Another thing, it uses less water than regular washers. I'm desable and needed a front door washer and dryer. Here you have both in just one equipment. It would not work if it doesn't have the liquid detergent and finishing product that are " he" high efficiency

LG All in One Washer Dryer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this LG All in One Washer Dryer because of the limited space in my Townhouse. I got this unit to replace an old Kenmore stacked washer dryer, all in one. I really hated the Kenmore because for me, the only way to plug in the 240V plug, hook up the washer hoses and vent tubing, was to climb over the top of that tall stacked unit and go down the other side. My washer space is inside of my bathroom and the space is super tight. When the Kenmore finally bit the dust, I told myself, no more climbing over anything for me, so I decided to get this LG unit, which is short and more manageable. It does not use a 240V plug but rather a regular 120V three pronged plug, which is roughly about 5 feet long, which is a good length. With this and hooking the LG up with a pair of 6 foot water intake hoses and no vent tubing, I am able to slide the entire machine out from the space that it occupies. Now no more climbing over anything to hook up new hoses or cleaning the back of the unit. Performance wise, it's best feature is when it comes to washing. This unit is basically like any LG side loading washer and gets clothes pretty clean and the spin cycle on this unit is so good that your clothes come out almost dry. Which is great for me because I like to hang my shirts up on a rack under the ceiling fan and a Vornado fan hitting it as well, while in my apartment. During a warm Hawaiian day, hanged cotton tee shirts dry in only a half an hour after coming out of a high speed spin cycle from this unit. If you researched this unit, you will find that a Ventless dryer is way slower than a vented dryer when it comes to drying times. This unit has a full sized capacity for washing but if you intend to dry anything in it, you have to take out enough clothing so the unit is only half full. Anything more and you're going to be waiting for a long time for your clothes to get dried. Also, through research, I found there are a lot of complaints that this type of units water pump does not completely pump out all of the water into the drain. This sort of hampers drying time because there's so much left over water in the unit, especially before drying. Because of my washing and drying practice, I usually wash clothes and do not set it to the wash and dry all in one cycle. When I wash my clothes, I set it for a wash cycle only and when it stops, I open up the unit and start sorting out the clothes that I want to hang up and dry on a rack and keep the clothes I want to dry in the unit. With the clothes I want to dry in the unit, I will take everything out and make sure everything is not tangled and re stack it nicely back in the unit. Then I'll set it to dry on manual timer for an hour and de-activate the spin cycle preceding the dry cycle. Usually the amount of clothes I dry in the unit is a little above the 1/4 way mark. Before I dry, I open up the drain pump plug on the bottom left side of the unit, and drain out any water that's inside the water pump. Make sure you have a pan to drain the water and be prepared to stop the flow of water with the screw in plug if you use a shallow pan. More than likely, there's going to be more water than you expected in the water pump area. After everything is drained, I turn on the dryer. I could be crazy but I really think there is a difference on how dry your clothes will get when you drain out the water from the water pump area. They say that you should drain out the water and clean out the filter as regular maintenance after 1 week. If you see how much water is setting in the unit after every wash or even a drying cycle, you'd be hard pressed to maintain the drain maintenance after every wash you do. That much water left inside the unit after a wash has got to contribute to the Stinky washer effect. There have been complaints that since the spin cycle is super high speed, a lot of vibrations and jumping around has occurred with other users of this unit. My washer area floor is pretty solid and I made sure I used a level on it when when adjusting the 4 legs. When Best Buy delivered it, I didn't buy the set up service and I did the hook myself. To me, getting the unit really level is the key for good performance. If you set it on the floor and it kind of rocks side to side like mine did, you need to make sure you make the adjustments to the legs so it is completely level. For me, I put some small furniture sliders under the 4 legs because this would make it easier to pull out of its space on a vinyl tiled floor. This prevents the metal legs from scratching my floor. The rubber on the top part of the sliders acts like vibration shock absorbers also. At extra high spin cycle, my unit is super quiet and there are no vibrations at all. I can really see how there are horror stories about this unit jumping around so violently that neighbors will be complaining. If your floor is not solid, you need to throw a piece of ply wood or something to make it solid and make sure it is as level as you can get it. This will prevent a lot of grief. Other things that are different from my old Kenmore stacked all in one unit are: No lint trap, any lint will accumulate on the glass section of the door and around the rubber gasket area. Also, after use, you need to keep the door cracked open so the inside of the drum area will have air circulation and this will prevent it from getting moldy and stinky. If I just wash clothes and don't dry anything, I just make sure I wipe the inside of the drum and door with a micro fiber cloth to get most of the moisture out, because it's going to be pretty damp in there. If you use the dryer after your wash cycle, the drum and door area will be bone dry so I just take a damp cloth and try to wipe out any lint that has accumulated on the door and rubber seals. Another thing that you need to watch for is build up in the detergent tray every once in a while. After every wash there's a lot of water in the detergent tray area so I take out the tray and make sure to shake out any excess water in there as well. Also, you need to get those washing machine cleaning tablets and use that with the tub clean function of this machine at least every 1 month if you do heavy washing. To me, a top loading washer has less headaches to worry about. My biggest pet peeve is that this washer/dryer unit's instructions are all made for a regular LG side loading washer. You can look on the LG website for the instructions and it will be the same thing. There are no instructions for using the dryer function on this unit, which is pretty irritating too me. I had to look at Youtube vids on how to operate the smaller LG model to get some idea how the dryer side of this unit operates. Once you actually operate the dryer its pretty easy but I'd wish there were at least some direction on how to operate the dryer side. Another pet peeve I have is that you have to nicely stack your clothing, with the heavier clothes on the bottom and the lighter clothing on the top. If you don't do this, your clothes won't wash properly. Gone are the days where I just threw in clothes into a top loader any way I wanted. This unit is kind of quirky but it works for me. Do a I recommend this type of unit for large families? No way. For large families, get separate washer and dryer units, with the dryer being a vented one. This unit is made more for 1 or 2 people who don't intend on washing and drying every day. I live alone so my wash load is not really a large amount so I don't really mind going through all of these extra steps. So far, this unit was everything I expected it to be and nothing more. I researched it before buying it so I knew what I was getting into. Only time will tell but if I can get at least 10 years out of this unit, I'll be satisfied.

All in one is a game changer
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far it's working great. Simply it is great that this machine washes and dries; "all in one". You can dump all your laundry and start this before going to bed. Next morning, all done (both wash and dry). Now you don't have to move between washer and dryer. No chance of wet laundry sitting in the washing machine for days... Perfect.

Q: Question*Does the hoses & cord come with it? *What size comforter will fit in it? *Is there a need for a vent? *Will the room heat up &/or get humid when in use?
Asked by DiDee.
- A:Answer I've owned 2 separate versions of the LG ventless washer/dryer. It really doesn't do well with very bulky items like quilts. Twin maybe, but definitely not our Cal King. I love this machine. You just need to be organized about your sorting and know which load is next, since it can dry half of a washed load. So frequent smaller loads are better. But since you don't have to move it from one box to another, you run a load while at work, run another load while doing dinner. Run another load overnight. It's easy. The one BIG downside is that no one can repair it!! It's YouTube and ordering parts. Even when it was under warranty LG had no one to send. The closest company it could recommend was over 50 miles away and they wouldn't even come if I paid extra for the travel time. You are on your own unless you call LG first and ask WHO repairs it and what their number is. Personally, I'm used to YouTube but I'm not sure I'll do it for the next machine. This kind of machine is very common in Europe, and I used it in an old building in VA where you couldn't punch dryer vents in the walls. It does not make the room overly hot, but the dry cycle takes a little longer. The laundry does not come out wet but there is a moment where it feels damp because it's not baked dry. I just shake it out and it feels normal. Occasionally I have to air dry jeans if I washed them with thin shirts. Try to keep fabric types together. It's MUCH nicer on fabrics!! It's rough to clean dog hair out of, especially around the belt and especially if you have a golden retriever. Sigh. Still, it's a great investment, a good move to save water, electricity, and not pump hot air into a 100 degree yard.

Q: QuestionCan this be hooked up to a kitchen or bathroom sink?
Asked by Customer.
- A:Answer The hot and cold water inlet valves on the LG 4.5 Cu. Ft. 14-Cycle Washer and 12-Cycle Electric Dryer Combo, Model # WM3998JBA are 3/4" diameter male connectors so if your kitchen or bathroom faucets can accommodate 3/4" connectors you will be able to connect them or you can look into using adapters if not. Your water supply pressure must be between 20 psi and 120 psi (138 – 827 kPa). If the water supply pressure is more than 120 psi, a pressure reducing valve must be installed. To provide optimum washing performance, the hot water temperature should be set at 120 – 130 °F (48 – 54 °C) and the cold at 60 °F (15 °C)...^IFV

Q: QuestionHow to dry clothes separate from wash cycle.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer When you start the machine up the lights assume you want to wash, but just push the Dry button and it assumes you want to spin and dry (normal). If you push the spin button it turns spin off, and you can change dry normal to dry 30 minutes or 60, whatever.
Answered by MarTeeNez
Q: QuestionHow is the dryer vented?
Asked by Audrey.
- A:Answer This washer/dryer is ventless. warm dry air is blown into the drum where it picks up moisture from the wet clothes. Now the warm moist air is pushed to a condenser where the air is cooled and therefore loses moisture. The water goes into the sump where it's pumped into the drain. The now cool dry air goes back to be heated again and pushed back into the drum. I assume that the heat transfer from the condenser is used to reheat the air to keep energy cost down. It's a closed loop system. I will tell you that while the unit has settings for normal (auto), turbo (a bit quicker auto), and timed (the user can set how long) the unit does not have a temperature control for drying. If you need low temperature for drying I suggest that you just wash without using the dryer function and move the load to a dryer with temp control or hang dry. I like the washer/dryer because it's perfect for starting a load right before going to bed and waking up in the morning with the clothes washed and dry. You don't even tell it how big of a load you have. It determines that itself. Also being an He washer it doesn't take as much detergent, fabric softener, or bleach as a standard washer. I hope this helps with your questions

Q: QuestionHi, Can I do a quick wash with 2 or 3 items(such as bras or underwear) and then a quick dry? how long would it take for the whole procedure?. Also, can we use it for drying only? like if something gets wet, but just needs to be dried but not washed?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer I have a previous generation model but it's very flexible. There's a 20 minute Quick Wash setting. You can do dry only, or spin & dry, Or wash only, or wash & dry (which spins dry first). Or you can just rinse and spin. There are a lot of ways to choose how it dries, too. By time (30, 60, 90, 120) or auto sense (normal, extra dry), or low temp. The only option it doesn't have is just air with no heat.

- A:Answer No! It runs solely on electricity; and the drying is ventless so literally all you need is this one machine, and the hot/cold water hoses.

Q: QuestionCan you wash only so you can hang clothes outside on nice days?
Asked by Mom22.
- A:Answer Yes! I am very happy with this washer/dryer. It saves me so much space in my tiny laundry room, giving me room to keep dirty clothes next to it and a clear walkway in front of it. When you run a cycle in this washer you actually have to push dry if you want it to dry after washing, so it won’t just run a dry cycle unexpectedly. I only line dry my clothes and use the dry cycle to fluff them, so the dry cycle can also be used independently.
