No, it is not. I'm surprised LG hasn't answered this because it's a very simple reason. The locking mechanism on the washer is both electrical and mechanical because it needs to ensure no water gets out. To accomplish this (and what LG wouldn't want to say is), they would either have to install and wire a second–often unused–locking mechanism, which would add to their cost, or trust the owner to perform some rewiring. Neither of these would be an acceptable option from a business perspective.
