Yes, after you finish using the washer, leave the door open overnight to allow air to circulate and dry the drum. This helps prevent odors. ^Daphane

It is probably a good idea to either dry out the rubber door seal or leave the door open to keep it from getting mold

If you wipe down the door and the seal after the wash, you do not have to keep it open. And it certainly doesn't hurt if on occasion the door is closed for a few hours after a wash. But I find it easiest just to keep the door open whenever I can. So, short answer is no if you do the drying but yes if you do not. You should also run the clean cycle (I use Affresh tablets) once a month or so, more often if you tend to keep the door closed.
