An electric dryer typically requires a 240-volt outlet. If you do not have this already it will need to be installed by a licensed electrician. If you do need this installed, I suggest getting bids from several electricians before deciding to replace the gas dryer.

Do not use an extension cord longer than 3 feet. 120 VAC @ 60 Hz, The power outlet must be within 60 inches (1.5m) of either side of the washer. ^Vanessa
