    • Answer Yes, it will do what you describe. It will work just like an internal DVD drive. You can even boot from it if you configure your bios to set it as a USB boot device. It's a perfect add-on to systems that don't have optical drive capabilities.

  • QuestionI bought a Boss BR-532 recorder and it has a digital output jack. I is a round jack and not looking like usb at all and wonder if this external hard drive is the answer or not.

It connects to a PC/Laptop via its USB port and it is compatible with the Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Mac OS X Operating Systems. Systems requirements are a Pentium IV 2.4 GHz or Higher(with USB 2.0) for basic performance(Recommended for optimal performance: Pentium IV 3.2 GHz or Higher) CPU with 256 MB of Memory (Recommended: 512 MM), a Hard Disk with 20 GB or more free space. (The free space needed for writing depends on the quantity of data.), and Video Memory of 64 MB (Recommended: 128 MB)....^IFV

    • Answer You will need to contact the manufacturer for your Chromebook to inquire if is compatible with external DVD Optical Drives. It is possible to connect the LG - 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive - Black, Model # SP80NB80, but there are limitations. You currently cannot watch DVD movies by default in Chrome OS. Unlike simple movie file formats that you might find online, playback of DVD Video requires special decoding software and codecs to work. Google has not licensed this software and included it with Chrome OS. A Chromebook will read the contents with no problem at all but there are some major limitations to using a Chromebook external DVD or CD drive. External devices are limited as to storage of readable files, and music files are not, without drivers, which cannot be installed on a Chromebook. Chrome OS can read files on these disks if they are a supported file formats such as • CD • CD-RW • DVD • DVD-RW This means you can easily open image or audio files in ChromeOS from files on a CD or DVD. However, Chrome OS does not support optical disks to let you play music or movies. The primary reason for this is that Chrome OS doesn’t come with codecs. Codecs are necessary to compress and decompress large files like DVD videos. If you want to play DVDs on your Chromebook, you’ll need to install Linux. You can connect a CD or DVD player on a Chromebook and use it read data files if you have a disk written in data format mentioned above. You cannot play an audio CD or a movie on a DVD and you cannot write anything to a CD, DVD or Blu-ray disk...^IFV

    • Answer Just as you would if you had a built-in DVD Optical Disc Drive in your computer, You will need to save the iTunes content on a CD as files in a computer then write then to the LG - 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive - Black, Model # SP80NB80. Not quite clear on what you are looking to do, but the SP80NB80 only connects to a computer via USB. It is compatible with the Windows 10/8.1/8/7/Vista/XP(SP3), and Mac OS X v.10.7.5 or Higher Operating Systems. If you are looking to download iTunes to your iPOD, then you can insert your CD that has the iTunes on it into the SP80NB80 and copy iTunes to your PC/Laptop and if your iPod connects to the PC/Laptop, you can copy them to it. Your PC/Laptop will see the SP80NB80 as another drive & you can copy or move files from it to your PC/Laptop then move those to your iPod if it allows for that. You need to check the manual for your iPod or contact Apple to ask about how to transfer files from a PC/Laptop to the iPod is you're not sure how to do that...^IFV

The DVD Tray in the unit is not designed for 8 cm (3.15") diameter MiniDVD (aka Mini DVD) discs so you will need an adapter to hold them in the DVD tray on this unit...^IFV

    • Answer You will need to first install a program that will allow you to copy the DVD that you are looking to copy onto your computer as a file. Then you can just find the file where you have saved it on your computer, right click on it to send it to the LG - 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive - Black, Model # SP80NB80 and insert the right DVD disc into the SP80NB80 and write (burn) the saved file onto the blank disc. The SP80NB80 can write to DVD-R, DVD-R DL, DVD-RW, DVD-RAM (Ver. 2.2), DVD+R, M-Disc (DVD+R SL), DVD+R DL, and DVD+RW discs...^IFV
