- Answer The LG - 8x External USB Double-Layer DVD±RW/CD-RW Drive - Black, MOdel # SP80NB80 is listed as being compatible with the Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Mac OS X (v.10.7.5 or higher) Operating Systems. Not sure which version of Debian you have, regrettably, Debian which supports Linux is not listed as being a compatible operating system, but since it is an open software, you will need to check its specifications for compatibility. USB is backward compatible...^IFV

- Answer You need a burner program that can develop the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS files necessary to run on a old school DVD player. Otherwise just find a DVD player that has .wmv support built in and you're good to go.

If your USB Hub cannot provide the necessary power, the DVD Drive will not work. You can inquire about powered USB hubs and see if they can supply adequate power for this to work...^IFV
