If there is no current Wi-Fi, plug it in. If there is Wi-Fi but the signal is just weak in the basement, this unit will probably "see" the other Wi-Fi router's weak signal . If it does, you will have a strong Wi-Fi presence there from now on. If the Wi-Fi signal in the basement is too weak, try moving this device directly under your other router & elevate it near that other unit's location to improve the signal. You can also download a Mobile App called "Wi-Fi Analytics", which will give you real-time strength measurements as you walk around to best find your "sweet-spot" for this repeater. Good Luck!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Instructions with the Extended said to place it midway between the wireless transmitter and the receiving computer. I did not have to do that. I placed the extender so that it would probably receive a good signal if the signal was not blocked by the heavy refrigerator. If that would not have worked, I would have tried to locate it midway. I suggest that you experiment a bit with placement of the extender. Start with placing it in the basement room where you want to receive the wireless signal. The extender is not plugged into the router; the extender is a stand-alone device.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The documentation and other info on the web about the AC1200 Range Extender says locate it half-way between your router and your computer or other devices that need the signal. The AC1200 extends the range of the WiFi of your router, so putting it in the basement somewhere should work for you. You can connect to the AC1200 with WiFi (wireless) or Ethernet cable (wired). I would just make sure to put it close to the router (within 10-15 feet) for the initial setup and configuration (if you need to change anything from the defaults), then move it to the basement and try different locations to see where it works best for you.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It says to locate between the router and the dead zone, which is what I did. Works great
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The extender picks up the wireless signal from the router where it start to get weeker and boost it to full strength so the extender simply should be placed about half way, or some more, between the router and the spot you need the signal to reach, in this case somewhere in between the router and the basement.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. As long as you can signal near the middle of the house, put the extender there and it should amplify the signal with no issue
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You would need to put it where you don't have a signal, or at least put where the signal is weakest.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.place extender med range between router and extender but a lot can lower the signal so best to find the best spot to place unit
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I would experiment. Try in your basement first. If you do not receive a signal, then move the extender midway between locations. Check the amount of signal you now receive in the basement. If you get something, you can try moving it closer to the basement since the connection was already established. You can also contact Linksys for more help -- if needed.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I placed my extender closer to my laptop farthest from the router. If the distance is too great, place it somewhere in between.
