Keep in mind that this device is AC1200, meaning that it will support a theoretical max rate of 1.2 Gb for the wireless transport (over the 5GHz band, that is). In real world conditions, that will likely be less. So if you plug 4 devices with 1 Gb Ethernet adapters into the Ethernet ports for example , they’ll all have to share that 1.2 Gb bandwidth across the 4 of them, not to mention any Wireless devices that connect directly to the extender. The more devices you add, the more contention you will have for that shared bandwidth.

This item will extend your current wifi signal a bit in weak areas. My gateway puts out signal at 2.4 and 5 ghz. One signal is higher than the other. I split my upstirs to run on 2.4ghz and downstairs on 5ghz. It worked for me and set up was easy. There is lots of info on YouTube.

The network bandwidth will always depend on the speed/data coming from the main modem/router. Nonetheless, this range extender delivers speeds up to three times faster than wireless-N extenders, making it well suited for large homes with multiple devices and heavy online media usage.
