do i have to point my remote directly at the hub null

Hello. The Elite controller uses an IR signal, but you do not have to point it directly at the device/hub. As long as you are pointing in the general direction of the hub, it will still pick up the signal. There are also IR extenders that allow you to put your devices and the hub in a cabinet.
