Yes, the buttons do light up and are clearly visible. Haven't seen a brightness feature for the buttons however I don't have any trouble seeing. The touch screen is VERY handy and can pretty much do anything that the buttons can do.

Hello cfishlaw! Yes the Harmony Elite (Remote Control and Smart Hub) features motion-sensing backlit keys, and the brightness of the screen and buttons can also be adjusted. Here are the steps: From your Harmony touchscreen remote, tap the Menu (Gear) icon at the top left of the screen. Next, tap Settings > Remote > Brightness. Adjust your screen brightness and button backlight to your desired setting. Finally, tap Done to save your changes.
