Radio frequencies (RF) are radio frequencies. They don’t change. The amplification power of the source can get stronger but only to the limits the FCC sets. To answer your question I’m not sure if the newer hubs have more amplification. Radio frequencies are very good...much better than infrared (IR). If your set up wasn’t working under RF then you have a some form of interference. Either a good blockage or it’s very far away from the source. Fireplaces? Vault? A competing Device (think cordless phone)? Etc. By the way the Logitech hubs are Bluetooth capable. That means any device (TV, DVD Player, etc.) with Bluetooth can be controlled via the hub within roughly 33 feet. Worst case scenario the Bluetooth, RF, or IR blasters connected to the hub along with a good Wi-Fi network connection should have you covered.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, we had 900 and loved the RF but the Elite uses WiFi and as long as you have WiFi it should work fine. Just replaced our 900 because it broke after 6+ years, best alternative we could find.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It comes with the Hub and it connects compatible devices via the internet. So most newer components should not need the IR blaster
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. After using a Harmony 900 for years that worked well if you pointed it at the IR Hub , I decided to upgrade to the new Harmony Elite with Hub for my Master Bed room. The new Elite was easy to setup after installing the Harmony Remote App and setting up an account with Logitech using my iPhone and following the detailed instructions . The new Harmony Elite works much better than the old Harmony 900 and it works great without pointing it directly at the Hub that is connected to my home WiFi System. This unit worked so well and was so easy to setup devices and activities, I purchased a second Harmony Elite with Hub for my Living room that controls Receiver, Apple Tv, Big screen TV and powered sub woofer and put away 3 individual remotes. The Logitech Harmony remote or the iPhone with the Harmony remote apply controls both of my systems very well. Additionally I am north of 70 years old and had no problems setting up both systems to work as intended which would make it a snap for younger owners. the initial setup was self explanatory, simple, and i did not have to call tech support. I would definitely recommend this upgraded product over the old technology Harmony Remotes including the ability to use a Smart Phone as a back up remote in case the grand kids misplace the Harmony remote.
