Applications like Microsoft Office, Teams, Zoom etc. will not have any issues, but specific application like Eclipse and its IDE may not be fully work with M1 chip. You can check the app compatibility at "Is Apple Silicon Ready?" (https://isapplesiliconready.com) website before you make the buying decision.
