fox599 any detergent is fine for the model as long as it is a HE detergent.

Powders and pods added to the dispenser will damage the dispenser mechanism. The brand of HE detergent is not critical but the amount used is very important. I read the owner's manual which recommends using 1/4 cup. For my city's water, for the load's amount of grime, and for the size of load, 1/4 cup was way too much. The washer compensates for poor judgment and keeps rinsing. At the end of one hour of repeated rinse cycles, it gave me a "sd" message on the digital read out. Translated into English, sd means sudsy, way, way too sudsy, Lady, please add less detergent. Next load, I tried half that amount which was just right. For a heavily soiled, bulky rug used on the back porch, I did use 1/4 cup and there was no sudsy message but there was an "ob,".off balance or out of balance message. I personally use Cheer for all colors free of perfumes and dyes that comes in a white container. It has no optical brighteners which give deep colors a grayed out surface. I use All for my whites laundry which has optical brighteners. I'm not pushing these brands over other brands but they are cheaper and work satisfactorily. I've had my Maytag washer 11 days and have used it 35 times. I used the POWER button just once, haven't used the STEAM button yet.
