• "The washer is designed to use only HE High Efficiency detergents"; Is stated on the front page of my manual and is further discussed on page 4. So, a direct answer to your question is: 1) No, the washer is not designed to use "regular detergent" --it is designed to use "High Efficiency" detergent. and 2) Users should look for detergent in a container marked "HE" or "High Efficiency". 3) The detergent does not need to be marked with the (GE) symbol. With all that said, I intend to use up the small amount of detergent I have on hand. Cheers

• The user guide says to use only High Efficiency detergents with the HE marking on the container. Plus, with this washer, a little detergent makes a lot of suds (not sure if this is due to the agitator).

• Not sure. Machine says it's high efficiency so I'm using high efficiency laundry soap. Not sure if regular soap would work as well.

• Hi jumpdog123, we suggest using high efficiency detergent, this is represented on your detergent by a symbol usually near the bottom or top of the packaging.
