You will need to make or already have an Oculus account. As far as physical hardware you would only need 2 AA batteries for your two controller (1 per controller). The system itself will have it's own internal Oculus store where you can buy and download games. The previous generation device did all users to hook the headset up to a PC to play Steam downloaded VR games, I would assume this new system would also have the same capabilities.

On a side note: You should buy rechargable battiers and a recharge station. This will save you so much money in the long run, I currently have the Rift S system for PC and i run through battiers for my controllers crazily, usually have to switch them every 4-5 days or so depending on how often and how long i play.

A Facebook account is mandatory to use this system, but nothing is required to play games on this. You will NEED, however, to create an Oculus account....because that is where you will look for, purchase and download games. Some games are free though, but are in limited numbers.

I too have a Rift S. Hand controllers eat batteries like mad!! One AA battery per controller. Seems like the batteries last only a few days…whether you’re using the headset or not. As if the hand controllers never power off. However, Oculus claims the Quest 2 is much easier on batteries. I hope so.
Quest 2 has about 50% higher resolution display than Rift S! This should make “screen door grid effect” go away. It sounds awesome. And apparently an accessory cable can be purchased to connect this otherwise wireless headset to a decent gaming PC to play PC-based VR games! Best of both worlds? I hope. I just hope that with the new silicone face cushions, it won’t get too hot inside and cause face sweating.
