Yes, this bundle has the newest surface pro (the 2018 version with the 8th gen i5) and a platinum type cover included in the price.

I returned it and the one I have now has slight markings on the keyboard where someone's hand would rest... It would be highly unethical for MS to sell these reduced-cost bundles as new if they are refurbished, but unfortunately, I don't know the true answer to your question. I suspect the worst, but I'm likely to keep this pc unless something really bad happens within the return period.
