A:AnswerThis I strictly a modem and has no WiFi capability. You will need to purchase a separate Router/WiFi unit to connect a network. I prefer separate WiFi & Modem until (better performance). The type of router should not matter in terms on compatibility, it does its own thing. I am using on a newer router with 3 channel (2.4Ghz and 2ea - 5Ghz) and it works great. JUST MAKE SURE THE MODEL OF THE MODEM IS COMPATIBLE WITH YOU INTERNET PROVIDER.
A:AnswerI'm no expert but this is the one I own. I was told that the model number equates to the sq footage of your house. So the 1900 would be good for a home about 1,900 sq/ft. I'm using mine with the XFinity/Comcast service and it seems to work just fine.
