Unit not good to be exposed. However, I have my unit plugged inside near a window facing the outbuilding that is the target for my wifi extender signal. Buildings are 100 feet apart, through 2 stucco walls. I get 5 out of 5 bars on signal. My unit exceeds what mfg says it will do, so depending on what you need your signal to go through or around, it may not need to be put outside. Hope this helps.
