This router is not what you are looking for in this case. This router is to be added behind a DSL/Cable Modem. Look for DSL Gateways or DSL modem/router combos.

If your phone company gave (rented) a single unit to you, it is a router with a built in modem.You do not plug DSL nor cable lines into any router unless it has a built in modem for that type of connection. You need a modem between the DSL outlet and the router.
