Don't know anything about uverse but I have an Amazon stick, a Roku stick, two smart phones, two tablets, and a Channel Master DVR all connected to my router with zero problems. Monthly fees? For what? You are not getting any continuing services from Netgear. No, no monthly fees.

from what I understand no it does not cost any extra but you need to plug it into the router of your internet provider of your choice and you put the code in to your wireless device tv tablet cell phone, lap top or any wireless capable device and those devices will store the code and you will automatically be on the internet as far as the netgear sends the signal I hope this answers your question,

This is just a router, it will connect to an existing high speed Internet to make a wireless connection.
