The USB on the back of this router is not made to attach printers or scanners even with a USB hub/switch. The USB on the router is designed to add a flash drive or USB external hard drive to your network. You can use the router to extend your network to allow an Ethernet connections for an Ethernet printer or scanner but you must run a RJ-45 cable to the local. If you do not want to run a cable, you can use a PowerLIne Bridge device such as NETGEAR Powerline 2000 to get Ethernet connectivity to the router, access point, switch, or to your printer/scanners.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am not certain about the USB Switch, but I used the AC1200 extender to increase range and then connected an ethernet printer to the extender. Worked perfectly.
