Yes. I just plugged it into my modem, downloaded the Netgear Genie and was able to set it up. You can also download the Genie onto your computer if you connect it to your existing network via Wifi, as that is part of the setup process.

Yes, but the app is terrible. It might not stay open long enough to configure the router. The default username and password are listed on the router should siffice in such cases.

I didn't need to plug in to the router to set it up. You shouldn't need an ethernet port.

No. Routers do not connect to your computer. They are hardwired to your Internet access point, usually a modem. Your computer would have to have either a wired or wireless LAN port to connect to the network.

you don't need the cord or the app. once you plug it in, you can find the access point and enter the password it comes with. it should guide you from there on the computer screen.

Yes. You can power on and connect the wires supplied with the router. You can connect your computer to the wifi and change the settings using the genie app that Netgear provides.
