QuestionOlder laptop wireless a/b cardI use this router with a couple of ac newer a/c devices and it works great. However, I will be "inheriting" and older win7 computer with an a/b wireless card. Does this router broadcast an a/b signal? Can I use a usb external card? Which one is best?

- Answer The computer you are inheriting will still be able to link up with this modem, however, it will be limited to the 2.4ghz channel which won't produce as much speed to your win7 PC.

- Answer Lots of variables to consider. Placement of the router should be as unobstructed as possible and as high in a room as possible. The more walls and glass through which a signal must travel also causes significant signal degradation. A router, outside in the open, with a "straight shot" to your device could have a fairly good signal up to 200 ft. Of course, nobody does that. Also, indoors, the 5Ghz band tends to weaken more when traveling through walls than the 2Ghz band, BUT, it's *throughput" is almost always faster. Therefore, it's possible to have a "fair" connection speed on 5GHz that still yields higher Mbs than a "good" or even "excellent" connection speed on the 2GHz band - I do it all the time.

- Answer There is no modem in this router.You will need to use your DSL modem and hook this up to it.

- Answer It depends on how you configure your network (esp. the cable connections). If you plug the Ethernet connection from your cable modem into the router's WAN port, you will have created a "new" network (a type of "subnet"), new login/password etc. However, if you plug the Ethernet cable from you modem into one of the router's *LAN* ports (there are 4), it will, in essence, become an "extension" of the existing wireless network from your current modem/router (and obviously eliminate 1 LAN port for your use, leaving you with 3). From there you get into higher-end configuration options such as setting your cable modem into bridge mode (which basically turns off the router portion of your modem), creating a VPN etc. So in the end, this router is adaptable to either scenario you choose. I would say most folks simply go with the first option above.

QuestionDoes anyone know why i cant get some web pages to load with this router?I set up the guest network and they worked on that for about a week now they do not work on that either. My sony bluray wont connect to it either and its only 2 months old. i tried netgear customer service but they say the router wont block pages and they had no ideas and hung up on me. BTW i will never buy another netgear product because of that. I've tried googling it and changing a couple boxes but nothing works. Just wondering if anyone has ideas before i take it back and if anyone has a recommendation of a good router. also the range is not as good as the box says. Thanks

- Answer A router won't interfere with web pages loading. The range is affected my how many walls the signal has to go thru. Btw I had a Sony Blu-ray that did the same thing, it was defective. Returned it for another (still Sony) model & this one works great.

- Answer Depending on your distance from the modem, I was finding about 75% speed capacity up to 15 yards, with a drop to about 55% capacity at 20.

- Answer No this is just the Wireless Router. There is no modem built in. I use the Motorola sb6141 modem and it works great with this router. Good Luck!

- Answer im not 100% sure but this being a router and not a modem, I would say there would be no problem with compatibility for time warner. I believe that modems are the ones you need to verify compatibility. They usually say on the box. Hope this helps

- Answer This unit can be use if your ISP provides internet speed from 300-1600 Mbps. 4K streaming will now depend on the TV you're using (if its a 4K TV) & if your ISP is at least 200 Mbps or more. Hope this helps.

- Answer All routers are designed to work with basically all internet providers, this router will work with Optimum as well as all others, a router basically sends a signal to your wi-fi capable device. providing you have a Modem provided by your cable provider, attach the Router to your modem and off you go,,

- Answer Check first your Modem & seebif its working, if not, then reboot it. Reboot also your Router then try to connect to it using the instructions provided for your R6250 router. Hope this helps.

- Answer The answer is yes, I have Spectrum/Time Warner internet service, but I decline the router they provided, instead I purchased a Netgear N600 router for $49 and it worked without any inconveniences for 9 years, it just died about a week ago, got my money's worth due to the fact that Spectrum wanted to charge me $12 a month, I would've paid close to $1,100 if I kept theirs, it is possible you may not have to change anything, just purchase a router that provides 2.4-5.0g.. hope this helps,,

- Answer Sorry, I am not sure because I’m not familiar with those ISP’s. I have an ISP locally and this router does an awesome job. Dual bands r nice option. I utilize 1 port connected to a puck for Google Wifi that sends the signal wirelessly to 2 other pucks so we have a strong Wifi signal throughout our 2800 sq ft home with no issues. Love this router. Probably does not answer your question, but if someone knows more about SECOM or RISE ISP’s this router should work just fine. Hope this helps.
