As per my understanding, for this Router to work with XFINITY or CHARTER or CENTURY LINK, an additional cable modem is required. Would it require investment into an expensive cable modem or any cheap modem will also do? Any recommendations? null

It does not require a additional modem as long as you set it as a access point.

Use the Morola Surf Board. Inexpensive. Good combination with Netgear.

With century link no other cable modem is needed. It has the modem and router combination which only requires a direct connect from the wall to the router. Our century link installer would not leave the modem we ordered from them because he said it would be a waste of money.

I just use the box Xfinity provides. I did not need to buy anything else.
