it can be used with, it is not a modem only a router, it's wireless signal is far superior to the cable companies router I had but you will need to use your existing modem

I have what was a Bright House, now Spectrum, modem and router combination. I was able to disable the built in router and use this router which is much faster. I can now watch Netflix movies without it pausing.

It is used in combination with your ISP acts as a pass through and eliminates the radio on your modem from the ISP, so it may utilize the newer faster beam forming technology.

If your ISP has given you a modem/router combo, then this will not replace that. This is just a router. You still need a DSL/cable modem in addition to this router.

No, it doesn't replace a modem/router. It is only a router. It only sends out the wireless signals. With this device, you would still require a separate modem to receive services from your provider. Best Buy does sell modem/router combination models.
