A:AnswerYes, You would need an internet service to use this router. I used Charter Internet for years and recently switched over to ATT/Direct TV in a bundle. Shop for the Best Internet Services for your area to get the Best Deal. You can then use the WiFi for your internet needs for TV, DVD Player and your cell phone. You can save $ by logging in your cell phone linked to your home internet. Hope This Helps!
A:AnswerYes. I just changed over from Charter Internet to Direct TV/Internet with the Fiber Optic. Clean Setup. Used this router for years with the Netgear Range Extender. Pretty Sweet! As a double check: Check online for the Router instruction manual for a diagram hookup Thanks!
A:AnswerMy Bonus Room Home Theater is over my garage and not close to my Home Office Router. I used a Netgear N300 Wifi Range Extension - Model EX2700 and works great.
Easy to Setup and check Best Buy and Amazon for the Best Price. I then logged my TV, A/V Receiver and DVD Player to the extension. This Dual Band Router is Excellent. Have used for several years with no issues. Try This...See if you can get a 4 Point Extender that complements your current router that you can hook up wirelessly. I think that would be the cleanest way to go. You can plug in all of your stuff, should be small enough too. Check Amazon and Best Buy for Pricing, Price Match as Appropriate. Thanks!
A:AnswerThe short answser is "No".
It sounds like your TV needs a wired Ethernet connection for Internet access. The feature that provides wired access to an existing WiFi signal is called a bridge, more particularly a wireless bridge or a WDS bridge. This router's software can't do that. But, even if it could, it may not be a good idea to do it, since TVs use lots of bandwidth, and hotspots often have low bandwidth and/or high data charges.
A:AnswerYou may need to update your modem, could be an incompatibility issue if it’s very old, just go buy a cheap new one. This router is way overpowered for what internet speed your “buying”. You May also want to try to adjust position of router and antenna as well as restart both modem and router after power off for a few minutes.
A:AnswerHello Hurrman, This router is rated for large homes, but with 3 levels an extender might improve experience. And this device is compatible with the extender. - NETGEAR
