• not much of an answer, but a lot of cable companies are not moving to 3.1 and staying at 3.0. they must be worried about fiber, which can do TV and phone too. at least it did in my last house.

• Depends on your plan with charter. This modem took the place of an older one I had where I was getting 100mbps and my plan gives me 400. Instantly getting 400+ now that I have this
