I am using Xfinint xfi and then allows single ssid for 2.4 and 5.0 bands, so I setup all my smart switches with single ssid. Can this work the same say? null

It should. Mine is set up with a single SSID.

Yes. this has both 2.4 and 5.0 separate band widths. set up router as your network with name and password. It connects both bands for to fit your needs. I use it to set up my TV, Hue lights, amazon echo, kasa light switch, my apple laptops, 12" iPad, and Many other devices w/no problem. I wasn't crazy about this router as it came installed with bit defender which I don't like. I LIKE Malwarebytes much better. I exchanged this router for a Linksys 6 series which combines the 2.4 & 5.0- bands and works great!
