To answer your question directly, yes you will have a left over router. It's also possible to buy stand-alone satellite units. This might be more cost effective than buying the second bundle. (Although the cost of a single satellite can be pretty high unless you catch them on sale.)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You don't want to buy two 3-packs - you will have one left over for certain. Buy extra satellites, you also should maybe look at the next model up. I've seen these installed in a home that's about 4500 square feet, router and two satellites is more than enough to cover the area.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Buy a three pack and add additional satellites if needed. Then the system will operate as one mesh. See https://kb.netgear.com/000062035/How-many-satellites-can-you-add-to-an-Orbi-WiFi-System
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can Pair them all together but you’re only going to need that if you got a real big house our house is 2500 ft.² and all we need it was a 2Pk
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. Each 3 pack has a controller, and two satellites. Since you only need one controller, the second one would be "left over." It would be more cost effective, and less work, to buy a 3 pack, and additional satellites. Or a 4 pack unit.
