No you need to get a cable modem first, then a router if you do not already have one.

You will need to buy a cable modem and plug this router into the cable modem for a complete setup however I have tested myself with Cox and it works great. A simple diagram for your reference: Cable (Coax) Wire from wall > Cable Modem > Netgear Nighthawk router > Means implies, "Plugged into" I hope this helps :-)
